Easy Infinity Scarf Tutorial that anyone can make!
In the fall and winter I love to wear scarves. My neck does not like the cold breeze, and when I have a scarf on, I’m not cold. Infinity scarves are a perfect solution in the cold fall and winter weather, but also a fun accessory for your outfit. This is also another really great beginner sewing project.

Prepare your fabric
What fabric is best for an infinity scarf?
You can use a lot of different types of fabric to make an infinity scarf. I am using apparel stretch fabric, but you could also use woven cotton, silk, flannel, fleece, etc. Because it is a long loop, it does not need to stretch to go over your head, so you don’t need stretch, you just need it long enough to wrap around your head a couple times.
For this infinity scarf my fabric is 30″ wide and about 60″ long. It’s not quite 60″ long because the fabric on the bolt was 57″. So if you are using different types of fabric that aren’t close to 60″ wide on the bolt, you’re going to need to piece some together to make it about 60″ long.
Wash and iron your fabric before constructing. Then cut it to 30″ by about 60″.
Sewing Instructions
Step 1. Sew long sides
Line up your long sides together with the right sides facing together. This makes a long skinny tube. Sew all the way across with a zigzag or stretch stitch.
Step 2. Sew short sides
Next, turn your tube partly right side out, so the raw edges of your short ends are lined up and the fabric is right sides facing together. Sew shut with a zig zag or stretch stitch, leaving a 4 inch opening so you can turn it right side out.
Step 3. Sew closed
Turn the scarf right side out. Fold the opening and pin or clip together. You can sew this shut with your sewing machine about 1/8″ from the edge.
Now you have a nice infinity scarf. To wear it, place it on your head, then twist and put it over your head again. You can adjust the length to make it shorter or longer if you don’t want it to wrap around at all, or if you want it to wrap around three time.
