There’s two reasons it’s so fun outfitting my kids in homemade clothes. One, I get to pick out the cute fabric. And two, I get to sew, which I love! I just bought my first JUKI Serger Sewing Machine on Amazon and my first projects were long sleeve raglan t-shirts for my three youngest kids. Here, you will learn how to make your own raglan t-shirt pattern.

While looking for a pattern for a shirt, I came across It’s Always Autumn. She has some great patterns on her blog. I used her tutorial on How to pattern draft and sew a raglan tee in any size to sew my kids raglan t-shirts. The only change I made was to make long sleeves instead of short sleeves since we just started the fall season here in Oregon. I went to my local Joann’s to find some really cute knit fabrics. You can also find some really cute fabric at Girl Charlee. They have a great selection of fabrics and have a lot of information for each fabric so you can choose the right weight and stretch for your project. This was a great first project to practice using my new serger. If you ask me, they turned out really cute!
If you want to make this shirt, go on over to It’s Always Autumn‘s tutorial and make your own raglan t-shirt pattern for your kids. It’s really simple. Really, the hardest part is just taking the time to make your pattern. And if you don’t have a serger, that’s fine. Use your sewing machine and use the zigzag stitch so the stitch will stretch with your fabric.
